A new futuristic building in Nicosia
An architectural gem of modern art with several futuristic elements. The impressive architecture designed by Jean Nouvel will be the Library of the University of Cyprus under the official name “Stelios Ioannou” Library Information Center and is expected to be operational next Autumn 2018. The library will be open to all citizens and will serve all the scientists and researchers of the country as the main research library.
Jean Nouvel is a French architect. Nouvel studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and was a founding member of Mars 1976 and Syndicat de l’Architecture.
Another magnificent project of Jean Nouvel can be found in Nicosia with the name “Tower 25”. The number signifies the 25 million euros spent to finish the building by the beginning of 2013. The iconic Jean Nouvel tower in the centre of Nicosia has won a prestigious award after being voted as the best tall building in the European category in the annual Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CBTUH) competition. Judges were specifically looking for ‘those buildings that have the greatest positive impact on the individuals who use them and the cities they inhabit’, the CBTUH announced.
Most of apartments, including the penthouse, were sold before construction commenced.
